Mark and Barbara have been married for
thirty years, and met soon after
Barbara's brother, Benny began playing
bass guitar for the group Mark was
singing with at the time. Mark
works as a machinist for a Government
contractor in Huntsville, Alabama. They have one son, Brett,
who is 22 years old. Brett got
married this year so they now have a
daughter in law and a grand baby on the
way. They all
reside in the Walnut Grove area of New
Market, Alabama.
Mark has been singing most of his life.
Most recently he sang lead with "The
King's IV" from Hillsboro, Alabama
for six years. Before that his
longest stint was with the mixed trio,
"Image" for fifteen years. "I want
to thank The Unity Quartet for giving me
this opportunity to minister through
song, and pray that we together can see
lost souls come to know God" he says.
Mark knows firsthand how prayer can
change things. In July, 2003, he
was diagnosed with stage three colon
cancer. After surgery and two
weeks of recovery, he was back singing
but faced six months of chemotherapy.
Out of work for eight months, the days
drew long and hard. "There were
days I got so down and depressed, prayer
was my only comfort. I had friends
calling me all hours of the day and
night encouraging and praying for me.
I will forever be thankful to The King's
IV who was there with me every step of
the way, through this most difficult
time in my life. However, through
all of this I could see God working, and
knew that He was not through with me
yet." Doctor visit after doctor
visit confirmed it.
God is still in the
healing business! Mark is cancer
free, and his desire is to continue
ministering in song and through The
Unity Quartet, God has opened that door.
Mark, we praise God for you! |
